Face it Friday!

Diabetes
If you have diabetes, you should know some things about how it will affect your dental health. The most important thing if you have diabetes (or otherwise) is to take good care of your mouth. You are at a greater risk of having periodontal (gum) disease. Periodontal disease can damage your gums and evetually cause bone loss around your teeth. This can lead to pain during chewing and eventually tooth loss. Periodontal disease can also make it harder to control you blood glucose.
Sometimes diabetics have problems with dry mouth. They can get infections in their mouth that are painful from not having enough saliva.
The best way to keep your gums and teeth healthy is, by controlling your blood glucose, brushing and flossing everyday, and visiting the dentist a least twice a year. If you have periodontal disease you will need to go to your dentist more often. When you do these things, you stay ahead of potential problems.
One more thing, if you smoke, quit.
It makes gum disease worse.
Make your smile the best it can be.
